Sit Ski Clinic – Crown Lake – Lawrence KS – June 3rd.
June 3, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
The Pomona Lake Ski Club is excited to offer adaptive water-skiing opportunities to individuals with spinal cord injury, amputations and other conditions that impact mobility and would otherwise prevent them from participating in this wonderful summer sport. Thanks to our generous sponsors and donors, the club was able to purchase two sit skis in 2013 and since that time have skied 100’s of rides and have offered numerous adaptive ski clinics.
In 2022 we will be offering two clinics to be held on Friday, June 3rd at Crown Lake outside of Lawrence, Kansas and on Saturday, August 13 at Pomona Lake in Vassar, Kansas, both near the Kansas City metropolitan area and Topeka, KS. These clinics are free to all participants.
Participants will be assisted by volunteers on the day of the clinics and work with you in a safe environment to meet your needs. Check out the video below from one of our recent adaptive clinics or visit the Move United adaptive ski site to learn more.
If you would like to enjoy the lake on a beautiful summer day and enjoy the freedom skimming along the water and having water splashed in your face, please review the participant requirements below and preregister for one or both of the adaptive ski clinics…you will be glad that you did! Preregistration is required.
Participant requirement:
Be one year post injury
Be 10 years of age at the time of the clinic
Be in good health (not counting your condition) and have no open wounds, recent surgeries, or anything that may be contradicted by the water.
Understand that you will be towed behind a boat at speeds of approximately 20 mph and should you fall, your body must be able to sustain contact with the water at these speeds.
Able to go from a face down position in water to a face up position and signal OK while wearing a personal flotation device (life jacket).
If you have any questions in regard to your injury and participation in adaptive water-skiing, please consult with your physician prior to skiing and registration.
