Team Tuesday – Amy & Dave

In many acts a skier puts on his skis and puts a strap around his waist. That skier is completely dependent on the spotter in the boat to release (pull the pin) the rope in the event of a fall. Our team is blessed to have 2 great spotter/ pinners. The husband and wife team of Dave and Amy have been keeping our team safe for many years. Dave is a Captain with the Shawnee Heights Fire Dept. and Amy works as a para at Tecumseh North and runs the before and after school program there.

One of the things our club is know for is our disabled sit ski clinics. When pulling a disabled skier in a sit ski, the ski is completely attached to the boat. Many skiers don’t have any strength to hold a handle. In the event of a fall, Amy must react instantly and pull the pin releasing the rope from the boat to avoid injuries.

Dave works part time as a mechanic for Shawnee Parks and Rec as a mechanic. He’s quick to spot a mechanical problem, and he’s worked on many of our boats and gets us back running. They probably have one of the toughest jobs in the club, but also the best seat in the house. Facing backwards watching the whole show. They do so much for our club, we are proud to have them as Warriors.
